Our Surf Coaching package includes everything in our Surf Guiding package with the addition of daily surf lessons and equipment hire. Surf lessons run for two hours per day and include surf theory and video analysis.

Our surf coaching package is our most comprehensive surf trip that will have you surfing better by the end of your stay, regardless of your starting level. Available at our Amouage and Taghazout Villa Locations.

With over 20 years of experience, we have an unparalleled knowledge of the coast and surf spots. Each day guests go as a small group of equal-level to the surf spots best suited for their skill. Beginner surfers will find mellow beach breaks perfect for catching your first wave, while intermediate and above surfers may find themselves tackling some of Moroccos famous point breaks.

The aim of this program is to take your surfing to the next level as quickly as possible with hands-on instruction. To ensure you get to surf waves suited to your ability, we implement our surf levels. This helps us pair you with a group seeking the same types of waves and coaching experience. We cater to complete beginners to advanced surfers – for levels 4, 5 & 6, see Surf Guiding.

Surf Levels Explained

In and around Taghazout we have a multi aspect coastline, which provides a range of different surf spots that work for any given tide or swell – we have waves for all surfing abilities.

To ensure you get to surf waves suited to your ability we implement a surf levels system. This helps us pair you with a surf group seeking the same type of waves. We’re able to cater from pro surfers to complete beginners.

Our team of professional surf coaches and system of levels sets us apart from other surf camps in Morocco.

FAQs

Your commonly asked questions answered.

Which locations can I join a surf coaching program at?

Surf Coaching Programs are available in Taghazout, at our beachfront locations, Amouage and Taghazout Villa.

Whether you are at Amouage or Taghazout Villa you will get the same surfing experience, the only difference being the type of accommodation you want. Amouage offers a more boutique hotel vibe, while Taghazout Villa is our more budget friendly laid back beach vibe villa. Regardless of which location you choose, you’ll never be more than a few steps from the water and will get to surf some of Morocco’s best waves.

Can I bring and use my own wetsuit and surfboard?

Of course you can. Remember though that at the Surf Maroc Shop or the Surf Hire Center you can find a range of boards including firewire and Mayhems to try.

When can I take my lesson?

Lessons are given in groups (unless individual lessons have been pre-booked) and take place in the morning, usually from 9:30 am. However, the starting time remains at the discretion of the coach, which may change depending on the conditions of the day.

How long are surf lessons?

Coaching sessions are 2 hours long.

Are individual coaching sessions available?

Yes, we offer private coaching, it needs to be pre-booked.

What’s the difference between Surf Coaching and Surf Guiding

With our Surf Coaching, you will get a dedicated 2-hour coaching session everyday, with hands-on training and guidance from our pro coaches, dedicated to helping you learn to surf or take your skills to the next level. You’ll have video analysis, theory sessions and a structured curriculum to guide your progression.

Surf Guiding on the other hand, is for people with a higher level of surfing ability, looking to score some of Morocco’s best waves, under the expert guidance of some of Morocco’s best surfers but without dedicated daily lessons. You will team up with a small group of other guests at a similar level and with your guide will head off along Morocco’s coast to find the best waves.

How many people will be in my group?

We are very sensitive about the number of people we take to a spot, and there is a maximum of eight people in a vehicle. We are legally allowed to teach at a ratio of 12 students to1coach but our operational average is 6 to 1. On very rare occasions we have to combine groups due to the split levels.

Is the board and wetsuit included only for the days I have lessons?

If you are on the surf coaching package, your board and wetsuit are included for all of your stay.

What kind of board will I use (beginners)?

Those new to surfing will use soft top boards, essentially these surfboards are designed with safety in mind. They function in much the same way as a normal surfboard and are what everyone on the team chooses when the waves are small (small is good when you’re starting out!)
